Girl look at that body…ahh..I work outtt!

I’ve been thinking about joining a gym and working out over the last few weeks.  I think my main barrier to that is the fact that I do not drive, and there aren’t any gyms that are super close to my house. Not to mention…gyms are expensive! Luckily, the HR association that I am a part of as well as discounts through my employer have given me a couple of options. One gym is more expensive, but is close to my house and offers classes that I can take that are part of my membership. The other one is pretty much right beside my place of work, but it has no classes and I’ve seen a lot of complaints about the whole franchise of gyms altogether.  I might go with the more expensive one…we’ll see. I believe it’s 40-something dollars a month.

In the meantime, I’ve been working out at home. I asked my father for an exercise bike a long time ago, so he bought one for me. It has been collecting dust for a while as I haven’t been able to work out, especially with having had my hip replaced, then having the kidney transplant. But now, I’ve worked out twice this week and look forward to getting stronger and healthier.

After much research and reading many reviews, I went onto Amazon.ca and bought a fitness book.  It’s called 101 Workouts for Women.  What I like about this book is that it’s for women (obvi) and also the fact that it shows workouts that can be done at home as well as in the gym.  I will still have problems doing some of the exercises until I get my knee replaced, especially the leg exercises that require squats and such, but in spite of that, my whole body is definitely feeling the burn right now!

I’m still a bit confused about the whole lifting weights with a fistula thing. I looked on the internet a few days ago, and most people seemed to state that it was okay to lift weights with your fistula arm as long as the fistula has already developed aka you’ve already had it for a long time. I’ll have to investigate this matter further.

Anyhow, on an unrelated matter, my dad’s friend, Fred, came to the house on Sunday a long with a bunch of other people as my Dad was throwing a bbq. He bought me “congratulations, you have a kidney” flowers and present lol.

He also, very thoughtfully bought me this coin.  Can you guess why? LOL

  • I agree with going back to the gym. It's hard at the beginning and man am I ever so lazy! I got a membership about a month ago and I've only been once. So bad! I know that once I get into a routine, I will stick with it. It's always harder at the beginning. I believe in you Flow! You can do it! We can motivate one another :D
