Food Poisoning!

The month of August has been a nightmare.
At the beginning of August, I caught a stomach bug. After tossing, turning, and writhing away in bed until 1:30am, I decided that it was time to go to the hospital. I called my parents, and they came to pick me up to take me there. I was given fluids, gravol, and pain medication. They sent me on my way in the morning.
The next two days after that weren’t easy; I wondered if perhaps the doctor had discharged me too soon. But, eventually I felt better and it was business as usual.
This time last week, I was sitting in an ER waiting room once again. I had picked up yet another stomach bug, and it cause my creatinine to skyrocket to numbers I haven’t reached in a while (like 270 or something). Again, fluids and more fluids, and I was good to go.
The common denominator in both of these instances was chicken cooked on a barbecue. The thing is…no one else got sick except for me. Add that to the list of shitty things that happen to you when you are immunosuppressed.
So now I’m super apprehensive about cooking, eating, or looking at chicken. I don’t need another round of food poisoning to wreak havoc on my damned kidney.
Guess i’ve gotta bring an instant read thermometer with me if i’m gonna eat chicken at someone else’s house.
