My name is Flo, and I’m a 30-something year old Human Resources professional living and loving in Toronto. I also have Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.
When I’m not ‘human resourcing’, I enjoy cooking, dining out, watching movies, and hanging out with my amazing and supportive boyfriend Greg. Oh, and sleeping. Let’s not kid ourselves here-I have lupus…I sleep tons.
I have two siblings; my sister is the eldest, my brother is in the middle, and I’m the baby.
One of my biggest goals was to finish school and land a role in my field, that being Human Resources. I’ve managed to do that at the company that I’ve worked with since 2003. It was an amazing feeling, because this company has stood by me and supported me through all my ups, downs, and everything in between.
Now that I’ve tackled this goal, I’ve got my sights set on a new goal; freelance writing.
I started this blog in 2007. It had been about 10 years from that point since my diagnosis, and I not only wanted an outlet to express my thoughts and feelings, but I also wanted to be able to go back and read/re-experience/reflect on my past thoughts. I never thought in a million years that anyone would read my blog, let alone identify with my experiences or use it as a resource to learn more.
I’ve always enjoyed writing, whether it was for my blog, or for assignments in college. Hopefully my love and passion for writing will be an asset to others wanting to express themselves, whether for personal or business reasons.
Thank you for embarking on this journey with me; it has been a bumpy ride. But, no matter how many trials and tribulations I’ve been through, I wouldn’t change a thing; all of my “adventures” have made and shaped the person that I am today.
